Penske Truck Leasing’s Sustainability Technology Innovations Highlighted by U.S. EPA SmartWay Program
Penske Truck Leasing’s market-leading sustainability technology innovations have been once again recognized, this time by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency SmartWay program. Penske has been named an inaugural 2024 SmartWay Leader, with its project, Alternative Fuel Options and Services for Advance-Vehicle Deployment, being profiled on the government agency’s website.
“SmartWay defines freight sustainability leadership as the ability to drive change, influence industry, lead efficiency performance, and sustain environmental excellence,” said Karl Simon, director of the EPA’s transportation and climate division. “EPA is proud to recognize five Logistics Partners and two Affiliates in the first annual Profiles in Leadership competition, which identifies these characteristics and demonstrations, as SmartWay Leaders.”
In the SmartWay profile, the company was lauded for the formation of Penske Energy (a joint venture with ForeFront Power), its visionary early adoption of battery-electric trucks and truck charging infrastructure, and the usage of renewable diesel within its truck fleet.
