Penske Customer Wesco International Piloting Ford E-Transit Electric Trucks

Wesco International, a global distribution and supply chain services provider, is experiencing success with operating a pilot program with Ford E-Transit electric vehicles, provided by Penske Truck Leasing. The units are being used in three major markets as part of the company’s overall electrification and sustainability strategy. Wesco is leveraging these E-Transits in Atlanta, Orlando and Phoenix.

According to Hemant Porwal, Wesco’s executive vice president – supply chain & operations, the vehicles are picking up and delivering a wide array of electrical, security, maintenance, repair and operations, and safety products from its industry-leading manufacturing partners.

The units are well-suited to servicing Wesco’s various vendor-managed inventory programs which help customers strengthen operational resiliency and drive cost improvements.

Porwal explained: “The pilot is going very well, and the initial feedback has been positive. The trucks are quiet, they have a lot of power, and they drive like a standard delivery vehicle. The range considerations have been managed well.”

He noted that this pilot represents an investment in the future of Wesco, and that it aligns well with the company’s goals.

“The electrification journey has begun for many organizations, and our experience with EV infrastructure solutions provides us pragmatic learning that we in turn can leverage to assist our customers with their fleet electrification journeys,” Porwal stated.

“I am excited about the future of EVs and how to best use them in our fleet. Penske has been a great partner on this path.”
