Penske Truck Leasing Recognizes Its Best Technicians at 2006 National Technical Challenge
READING, Pa., August 2, 2006 - During the course of a year, top-notch Penske service technicians ensure hundreds of thousands of trucks motoring across North American highways run smoothly and safely by employing both state-of-the-art diagnostic technologies and tried-and-true tools like the wrench.
Penske Truck Leasing recently hosted its 2006 National Technical Challenge at its Charlotte, N.C. location, followed by the awards banquet at the world-class Penske Racing South facility in Mooresville, N.C., and awarded 15 participants cash prizes and recognition for being the "best of the best" in their field.
Penske's Technical Challenge is a corporate competition designed to provide employees with an opportunity to test their knowledge and skills through written and "hands on" assessments. The challenge features two separate competitions including the Preventive Maintenance competition, in which participants compete individually to identify vehicle defects, and the Vehicle Diagnostic and Troubleshooting competition, in which teams of two use the Penske Shop Diagnostic Computer to read active fault codes, diagnose and repair problems found on vehicles.
"We are very proud of the 2006 Technical Challenge winners, and recognize the hard work and dedication that they have demonstrated to improving their skills," said Ken McKibben, Penske's Senior Vice President - Field Maintenance. "Penske depends on its employees to deliver the best maintenance service in the industry, and the Technical Challenge offers our service team an opportunity to test those skills, and show their commitment to delivering the highest level of quality and customer service."
Penske's Technical Challenge has increased in popularity among employees, as is evidenced by the increase in participation numbers each year. This year was no exception with over 1,600 service associates competing for the grand prize - the most since its inception in 1995. Approximately thirty-one percent of Penske's technicians and customer service representatives took part.
